AI4PEX and ELLIS Unit Jena Strengthen Collaboration
AI4PEX has now officially joined the ELLIS network, marking an important step toward strengthening connections between artificial intelligence research and Earth system science. We are now pleased to announce a closer collaboration with the ELLIS Unit Jena, further expanding opportunities for interdisciplinary research, scientific exchange, and community building.
The European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) is a pan-European network of leading research institutions working to advance excellence in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Through its network of research units, programs, and educational activities, ELLIS promotes collaboration across disciplines and supports the next generation of AI researchers in Europe.
As one of these research hubs, the ELLIS Unit Jena brings together expertise in machine learning, scientific AI, and data-driven modeling, with strong links to the life, environmental, and Earth sciences. The unit plays an important role in fostering interdisciplinary research and connecting AI methods with real-world scientific challenges.
The collaboration between AI4PEX and the ELLIS Unit Jena aims to strengthen research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, Earth observation, and climate science. Through joint activities, scientific exchange, and training opportunities, both communities seek to advance trustworthy and impactful AI methods for understanding and predicting extreme climate events.
The partnership will also provide new opportunities for students and early-career researchers and contribute to building stronger links between the AI and Earth system science communities.
We look forward to the exciting collaborations and activities ahead.
